What do we do? We grow specialty cut flowers and provide full service floristry including special events from late April until late September yearly. We only use what we grow in our creations and use sustainable floristry methods (toxic floral foam free). 2026 marks our 11th season here on the farm! We offer closed-loop, farm-to-table, products grown and made right here (with love!) in our beloved Kootenays .

(Our farmland is on the traditional, unceded territories of the Sinixt peoples in the heart of the stunning Slocan Valley. Nestled on the banks of the Slocan River, our beautiful 27-acre farm offers scenic mountain views, heritage buildings, a private venue site for events, and a large open field of specialty-cut flowers. Lana and Brad bought the farm in 2013 and set out to live their dream life. Both Brad and Lana are interested in learning and experimentation. They also both love the farming lifestyle, being outside all the time, and relaxing with other activities in the winter..

Who are We?

Lana Braun, the farmer florist at Hummingbird is a born and raised Kootenay’s kid. After university she spent 20 years as a civil servant but always with a passion for gardening!

Primarily responsible for all of the floral art, market bouquets and wedding work that happens at the farm! She also does the planting plan to ensure that we have a steady supply of blooms all season long.

Brad Braun, an Alberta transplant who always loved the Kootenay’s is living the dream here! Brad is a classically trained engineer, worked for many years in the ‘industry’ in Alberta. Here at the farm he is the fixer of everything and makes the irrigation and infrastructure all work… He is a passionate skier, and general outdoors man and finds time to live his passions!

Alexander McIntyre, the Flower Farmer at Hummingbird Farm is a Kootenay Kid with a love of blooms! He will be starting his 5th season at the farm (2026). He is responsible for most of the plant care ‘in the field’ from bed prep, planting, support and general fussing. He also does the majority of harvest of blooms (with Lana assisting!). He has a particular passion for drying blooms and seed saving so works hard to keep these important parts of the farm happening!
